CPCS Red Cards, Blue Cards, and renewals

How do they work?

CPCS Red Cards (Trained Operator Card):

The Red Card is awarded to operators upon the completion of a novice course. It demonstrates that they have learned the basic skills necessary to operate the machine, but need to build up their experience onsite in order to qualify for the next step: upskilling to a Blue Card.

CPCS Blue Cards (Competent Operator Card):

Once a delegate has achieved their Red Card, they must show that they have the necessary experience to upgrade to a Blue Card. This is done by completing an NVQ. This involves an assessor visiting the site to collate witness testimonies and observe the delegate perform relevant tasks.

Renewals:

In order to renew your Blue Card, the relevant Touchscreen Test must be completed, as well as an Onsite Assessment or Practical Test if your logbook has not been kept sufficiently updated. If you are unsure of what you need, please see the flowchart below.
